Strength-Based Design Analysis of a Damaged Engine Mounting Bracket Designed for a Commercial Electric Vehicle

This study describes a strength-based design analysis protocol by means of finite element (FEA) for damaged engine mounting bracket in converted electric vehicle. The considered the is product specifically designed and manufactured vehicle failed during conventional operation Thus, improvement/revision (redesign) on geometry was investigated. In this context, to prevent such undesired failures, features as deformation behaviour stress distribution under projected loads should be properly described; however, an accurate description these may become complex experimental problem solved designers. described redesign through torsional loading generated that determined reason failure thus motivation realise safer design. Visual numerical results obtained from simulation revealed clear understanding therefore enabled informed approach stage. initial FEA part mapped damage regions indicated magnitudes were more than material’s limits. comparison plots data physically consistent. concluded satisfactorily exhibited main insufficient thickness notch effect against pre-defined conditions. Therefore, improvement realised geometric features. Subsequently, final highlighted would enable safe operation. work contributes further research into usage method-based studies elements used customised vehicles.
